Does my home insurance cover me for a home emergency?
Usually your home insurance will cover you for damage caused by an emergency (for example, water damage caused by a leak), rather than the emergency itself. So, while your insurer would cover the big water stain on your ceiling, you'd need a home cover plan to get the leak repaired.
Do I need home cover?
The choice is entirely up to you!
One thing to keep in mind is that getting home cover can help you budget. One small monthly payment from as little as £16 per month will help you to avoid large, unexpected emergency repair bills.
Also, home cover will take the stress and hassle out of finding reliable engineers when you have an emergency. Once you've reported the problem to us, you can sit back and relax with the reassurance that we'll handle it all for you.
Do you cover my boiler?
We service, and repair all makes and models of domestic boilers that are powered by natural gas, with the exception of Potterton Powermax, Britony, Chaffoteaux, Sime, Servowarm and Elm Le Blanc. We do not service or repair: LPG boilers, thermal store boilers, solid fuel boilers, oil boilers, electric boilers, back boilers or dual-purpose boilers.
Will home cover include my plumbing?
Yes, our home cover plans do cover repairs to your plumbing system.
What happens if my home is burgled?
If you've chosen to include home security in your plan, you can report this to us any time, day or night. We'll despatch an emergency engineer to make your home feel safe again until your buildings and contents insurance provider can make a permanent repair.
Which pests are covered?
If you've chosen to include pest control in your plan, we will cover infestations of rats, mice, wasps, and hornets.
When will you send an engineer if I need a repair?
For emergency repairs, our average response time is two hours.
For urgent repairs, our average response time is one working day.
For other general repairs, we will try our best to find a day and time slot to suit you.
Do I need to pay a fee for a repair?
That depends on if you have chosen your cover with or without a fixed fee per repair. If you choose to have cover with a fixed fee, it will mean your monthly payments are less, but you will pay a fixed fee for each repair you receive.
What does my annual boiler service include and how do I book it?
All of our boiler and central heating cover plans come with an annual inspection of your boiler to make sure it's safe and working properly. This includes:
- A visual check of the boiler
- A flue gas analysis & efficiency test
- Removing the boiler cover and inspecting it, if necessary
- Checking and adjusting the system pressure, if necessary
- Cleaning the condensate trap, if necessary
- Checking the boiler is firing up and shutting down safely
- Checking that the ventilation & flue are in accordance with current Gas Safety regulations
When you're due a service, we'll automatically allocate an engineer and they'll be in touch to arrange a time and date that works for you. Once we've carried out your service, we'll put confirmation of this in your online portal.
How do I pay for my home emergency cover?
You can pay for your cover via monthly direct debit. The first payment is made two weeks after the start of your plan and then monthly on or around the same date each month after.
